 FLATS


There are local newspapers which advertise flats and it´s important to get here early September to find accommodation as flats are usually taken immediately because of university students and teachers. The price for shared accommodation varies according to the area and the facilities the flat offers but is usually about 220 to 250 euros a month. For a small apartment you would expect to pay between 350 and 450 euros. Take into consideration that you also have to pay a deposit the first month and it´s also important to check what other bills you have to pay in addition to the rent e.g. heating, electricity,… The school can contact any landlord on teachers´ behalf and a Spanish speaker can accompany teachers looking for a flat if required.

 

RESIDENCY AND SOCIAL SECURITY


 During the first 48 hours, new teachers are accompanied to the police station in Toledo to register and obtain a certificate with their national identity number. This number is necessary to sign your contract , to sign up with the doctor and open a bank account.

 

OPENING A BANK ACCOUNT


 The school banks with Banco Santander and if you bank with them you receive your salary on the same day that we send the salary bank transfers which is usually between the first and third day of each month. If you decide to bank with another organisation they will be able to tell you their procedure regards transfers,etc,…

 

SIGNING UP WITH A DOCTOR


Firstly you go to the health centre in the area where you live to speak to the social worker who is responsible for completing your medical history for the doctor. Then if you want to see the doctor you need to ask for an appointment one day in advance. If you are ill and need to see a doctor, go to your health centre and the doctor on duty will see you.
